I’m a New York wedding photographer and filmmaker with a documentary heart and an editorial eye — but there’s a lot more to me than the guy behind the camera.
When I’m not photographing weddings, you’ll usually find me spending time with my family, in the kitchen cooking something (and probably making way too much of it), or at the gym powerlifting. Family is a huge part of who I am, which is probably why I’m naturally drawn to the relationships and little interactions that happen throughout a wedding day.
After photographing hundreds of weddings, I’ve learned that the best photographs happen when you stop worrying about the photographs.
I want you to laugh, cry, dance, hug your family and actually experience your wedding. I’ll be there watching for the moments you can’t plan — the expressions, reactions and little things happening when you’re not looking.And when it’s time for portraits, I’ll step in, find the light and guide you naturally to create those refined, editorial images you’ll want hanging on your walls.
You don’t need to know how to pose. That’s my job.
My personality is relaxed, easygoing and a little sarcastic when the moment calls for it. I want you to feel like you have someone you trust beside you rather than someone following you around with a camera all day.

MY APPROACH
My approach is simple: I want you to experience your wedding, not spend the entire day posing for it.
For most of the day, I take a documentary approach — watching, anticipating and capturing the genuine moments as they naturally unfold. The laughter, the nerves, the happy tears, the family interactions and all those little in-between moments you may not even realize are happening.
But documentary doesn’t mean completely hands-off. When it’s time for portraits, I know when to step in. I’ll find the right light, give you direction and create refined, editorial images without making you feel stiff or overly posed.
Most importantly, I want you to feel comfortable with me. You don’t need to know how to pose or what to do in front of the camera — that’s my job. I’ll guide you when you need it and get out of the way when you don’t.
The result is a gallery that feels like your wedding actually felt: natural, emotional and full of life, with just the right amount of editorial polish.

I started Photos By FJ eight years ago, turning my passion for photography into a career I truly love.

Before photography, I spent 22 rewarding years in banking and finance — so picking up a camera was definitely a career plot twist.

I've been with my wife for 11 years, and together we have two beautiful children who are the light of my life. Family is everything to me, and I think that's a big part of why I'm so drawn to the emotional family moments on a wedding day.

I love to cook and host. Give me a kitchen full of food and a house full of family and friends, and I'm happy.

I'm also a powerlifter and a proud member of the 1,000 lb Club. It occasionally comes in handy when a 200-pound marble table needs to be moved to get the perfect shot.

There's a very good chance I'll tear up during your father-daughter dance. I've photographed hundreds of emotional moments, and somehow that one still gets me.

And absolutely nothing productive is happening in my life until I've had my morning black coffee. No cream. No sugar. No negotiations.
